Definiton Of Solar - What Does Solar Exactly Mean?

So what exactly does the word solar mean? Having a little surf around the web there are many different definitions. On Dictionary.com they give 7 different points for solar as an adjective.
- pertaining to the sun
- determined by the sun
- proceeding from the sun
- utilizing, operated by, or depending on solar energy
- indicating time with reference to the sun
- manufacturing or providing solar power
- astrology. subject to the influence of the sun.
I think the 7th point is the best and sums the word up in a loose general sentence. Of course you could go deep into this subject, but for the purpose of this website an in-depth definiton isn’t required.
From the research we also found the latin word Sol means sun, giving a clear reason for the word solar!
